This course encourages reflective practice in English language teaching by linking student-teachers' French secondary school EFL experience with research into instructed second language acquisition (SLA) and English language teaching in other contexts.
It covers
- SLA and ELT methods (TBLT or task-based language teaching versus presentation-practice-production or PPP, teaching culture)
- classroom CALL in the form of digital resources, tools and networks, and materials development and implementation of teaching and learning activities from a TBLT perspective
- Classroom research project including classroom intervention, analysis, and academic write-up (poster, written report).
We will read and discuss articles on goals and methods of teaching, and on classroom research.
