The main objective of this course is to introduce techniques and models for assessing, limiting and adjusting financial risk exposure. The success of a business is determined by its ability to keep operating despite risks, and risk management is nowadays portrayed as possessing these specific skills which are crucial to an exceptional management of a firm. The design of the course will enable students to gain a comprehensive understanding of risk management and regulation, and to empower their competency to describe diverse interpretations on risk; to differentiate several financial and non-financial risk types; to apply, evaluate and compare methods used to measure risk, and assess different risk measures; to understand how financial regulations affect financial markets; and to critically review studies on financial risk management.
